What is Wrong With people?
By Sally Haase
April 6, 2011

Bryan Stow is a paramedic, a father of two, and a San Francisco Giants fan.  Stow
was beaten near death by a pair of Los Angeles Dodgers fans after the Dodgers
opening day win against the Giants.  The motive for the beating is simple; he is a
fan of the Dodgers biggest rival- the Giants.  Are people getting dumber?  Or is this
rivalry really that strong that Giants fans need to have a fractured skull and be in a
medically induced coma?  I can’t give you a definite ’yes’ or ’no’ to the first question
because I really hope people are not losing their common sense and decency, but
the answer to the second question is a big, fat NO!!  I know sports rivalries are a lot
of fun. You cheer for your team and there is always some playful, good-natured
ribbing of the opposing team and its fans.  Once is turns to violence, the line needs
to be drawn.  This man could still lose his life because of the fact that he wore a
Giants jersey in the vicinity of Dodger Stadium, it is just sick and pathetic what
these two men did and they should get the harshest punishment possible.

Now I know there had to be dozens of people in the parking lot when Stow was
attacked, you can’t tell me that NOONE saw anything.  I know people don’t want to
be known as a snitch, but stop and think for a moment.  What if Stow was your
husband, brother, son, or father; you would want the people who beat him up to be
caught.

The outpouring of support for Stow and his family is amazing and as fans, let’s
show our support for Stow and his family by being respectful of ALL fans when we
attend any sporting event.
