Scottie Wilbekin suspended from Gators Basketball |
By Brandon Kendrick June 19, 2013 Florida Gators suspended guard Scottie Wilbekin has a lot of work to do in order to join his teammates again. Wilbekin was suspended by head coach Billy Donovan for violating team rules. This is the second suspension for him since November when he was forced to sit out three games. "Right now, he needs to prove that he wants to be part of the team and that this is what he wants to do," Donovan said. Wilbekin is locked out of the Florida basketball practice facility until further notice. The senior guard averaged 9.1 points, was second in the SEC in assists with five per game and was named to the All-SEC defensive team last season. "He has to take care of responsibilities," Donovan said. "At this point, I don't really want to address any more about his status until the season starts in October. Hopefully, this is something he can learn from." Scottie Wilbekin is a key player that plays a huge role in the Gators' success next season. If he can't fix his behavior issues, the Gators will miss out from his great defense and ability to make big shots and plays on offense. |
