| Rosenfels Moves East and up the Depth Chart |
| By Sally Haase September 4, 2010 MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- We all knew it was coming, it was just when and who. The Minnesota Vikings traded third string quarterback Sage Rosenfels and running back Darius Reynaud to the New York Giants for undisclosed draft picks. The Vikings will get a draft pick in the 2011 draft and a conditional draft pick in 2012. The trade gives the Giants a 10 year veteran to back up starting quarterback Eli Manning. When Brett Favre announced his return to the Vikings for a 20th and he says final season, it gave the Vikings four quarterbacks on his roster. Not wanting to lose rookie Joe Webb through waivers and coach Brad Childress said after the pre-season finale that former starter Tarvaris Jackson is the second string quarterback, it became obvious that Rosenfels would be the odd man out. Rosenfels was impressive in the pre-season, but was frustrated with his role on the team. Rosenfels could have a chance to face his former team when the Giants play the Vikings at Mall of America field. |
