| Rice has Surgery; Vikings Sign Walker |
| By Sally Haase August 24, 2010 EDEN PRAIRIE, MN --Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Sidney Rice confirmed to the Star Tribune that he has had surgery on his ailing hip. Rice said the surgery went well, but the receiver, who had a career year last season is expected to miss half the season if not the whole season. To fill the hole in the receiving core, the Vikings signed former Green Bay Packer (and former Brett Favre teammate) Javon Walker. Walker, a nine year veteran has 267 career receptions for 4,011 yards and 31 touchdowns. 20 of the 31 touchdowns were thrown by Favre. Walker has a little playoff experience, playing in four games, two of which he had over 100 yards receiving. In order to make room for Walker on the roster, the Vikings placed running back Ryan Moats on waivers. |
