| Big Ten negotiating with Pinstripe Bowl |
| By Fred Perdue April 7, 2013 One of the driving forces behind college football realignment is location, location, location. Rutgers agreed to become a part of the Big Ten Conference. The league was interested in the Scarlet Knights primarily due to its share of the New York City market. The same applies as the Big Ten is reportedly in negotiations to become a future participant in the Pinstripe Bowl. "The Big Ten and ACC are in discussions with the Pinstripe Bowl on a commitment after the 2013 season, according to a league source that expects a deal to happen eventually," Jeremy Fowler of CBSSports.com reported. The Big Ten and ACC are now better geographical fits than current Pinstripe affiliates the Big East and the Big 12 Conferences. With Rutgers, Maryland and Penn State in the Big Ten and Boston College and Syracuse in the ACC; these are very good fits for the bowl -- if those programs were to qualify for the game. The added prestige and exposure the two new conferences would bring is more than enough to get this deal done in short order. The deal would start in 2014. |
