Cards Force Game 7
By Sally Haase

ST. LOUIS, MO---  For those of you who do not watch the World Series when a big market
team like the New York Yankees or Boston Red Sox are not involved, you have missed an
amazing World Series and the epic battle in game 6 was the cherry on top of a already
delicious sundae.  The Texas Rangers were one strike away from beating the St. Louis
Cardinals and winning their first World Series twice.  But the Cardinals would not back
down, with David Freese hitting a two run triple to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth.  In
the top of the tenth, Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton went deep for his first home run of the
series to give the Rangers a two run lead for the second time in as many innings.  And the
Cardinals came back, this time it was Lance Berkman with the game tying single.  In the
bottom of the 11th it was Freese who would be the hero of game 6 with a walk off home run.
Note to World Series announcer Joe Buck, when your dad said his famous line in the 1991
World Series, it was considered to be one of the greatest lines ever said in sports.  And the
reason it was so great is because it was spontaneous, stop trying to duplicate it.

The Rangers and Cardinals have traded off wins until game five when the Rangers were the
first to win back to back games.  The first two games were one run nail biters but both
offenses erupted in game three that ended with a 16-7 win for the Cardinals.  Even though it
lacked in good pitching, it was still a historic game, Albert Pujols had the single greatest
hitting performance in Series history, going 5 for 6 with three home runs.  In all the years of
baseball, only three players have ever hit three home runs in a World Series game, Pujols
joined Babe Ruth and Reggie Jackson as the only players to achieve that feat.  There better
be a spot in Cooperstown all cleared out and ready to go for Pujols because he punched
his ticket for Cooperstown in game three.

A World Series champion will be crowned Friday in St. Louis, Matt Harrison will start for the
Rangers and the Cardinals will start Chris Carpenter.
