| Blackburn and Fuentes Shut Out Mariners |
| By Sally Haase August 28, 2010 Seattle, WA-- Nick Blackburn pitched possibly the best game of his still young career by throwing a two hit 1-0 shut out against the Seattle Mariners. Blackburn fell one out short of a complete game, handing the ball over to the newest Twins reliever Brian Fuentes for the final out. Fuentes earned his first save for the Twins by striking out Russell Branyan, who represented the winning run. The Twins had two players leave the game with injuries, second baseman Orlando Hudson left the game after the first inning with an ankle sprain; he is listed as day to day. Designated hitter Jim Thome was replaced by Jason Repko in the third inning, Thome had stiffness in his lower back. The Twins go for the sweep Sunday afternoon. |
